SCALING NET ZERO BUILDING DECARBONIZATION: VIDEO
Chapter members took a break from their own four walls during our Shelter in Place month two as we were joined by Martha Campbell, Principal with the Rocky Mountain Institute's (RMI) Buildings Practice, who shared industrialized approaches to scaling building decarbonization, especially NZC retrofits, explored new financing mechanisms and business models that help unlock this model, and presented ways of thinking about efficiency and electrification in harmony. She also discussed how to support RMI’s work by brainstorming on how your current efforts can support such a model.
At RMI, Martha leads its REALIZE initiative, which focuses on making net-zero residential retrofits standardized, affordable, convenient, and attractive through a model where retrofits are financed through utility savings, include a performance guarantee, and are delivered using semi-industrial approaches that allow for scale and simultaneous mass customization.
