51ST CLIMATE REALITY LEADERSHIP TRAINING IS A WRAP!

The Climate Reality Project just completed its 51st leadership training event last week in Houston, Texas.

This first ever “Power up" training took a slightly different tack from prior events. It was open to previously trained leaders as well as newcomers to the Climate Reality community. The training focused heavily on challenges of a specific community: Frontline and fence line communities in the five Gulf South states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. The vast majority of all 400 attendees were from those states, though CRBA co-chair (and native Texan), Harriet Harvey-Horn was one of a few Californians in attendance.

The main themes included opposing any further petrochemical and fossil fuel industrial build-out, and ensuring frontline communities have access to safe water and air. The training also featured inspiring stories of grassroots activism by impacted community members.

It was a powerful and empowering, experience! The Gulf South-tailored slide deck used by Vice President Gore will be available on the Reality Hub in a few weeks. Keep your eyes open for future training opportunities coming in 2023!
