CLIMATE REALITY PROJECT CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED: "OUR CLIMATE MOMENT"

At the second of two Federal Lobbying workshops on January 18, the Climate Reality Project formally announced a federal campaign, aptly named “Our Climate Moment: Let’s Get to Work!”

With an administration deeply committed to significant climate and climate justice action, and a climate-friendly majority in both houses of Congress, 2021 represents an unprecedented opportunity for the type of sweeping response the climate crisis demands.

But with midterm elections less than two years away, which could change the climate orientation in Congress, the next two years present a narrow window where big moves can and must happen fast . . . truly “Our Climate Moment."

The campaign organizes advocacy at the federal level around five key priorities:

1. A Just Transition to Clean Energy

2. Zero Carbon Transportation

3. Climate Justice and Public Health

4. Building Green Communities

5. International Leadership

The well-organized campaign provides training and resources for advocating with our representatives.  It will also issue occasional direct calls to action for specific bills and policies. Soon, the Bay Area chapter leadership will hold a planning session to debrief the membership on the campaign and strategize our chapter’s engagement.  Please keep an eye out for an invitation.

One action we can all take now is to respond to the campaign's first Call to Action: sign on to this Climate Reality Petition urging President Biden and our representatives to act decisively in the first 100 days on climate action and a just recovery for America, focused on the campaign’s five priorities.
